Power Cover Not Charging 100% 0% 100% ???

I've seen many post, but no answers?  Surface Pro Classic and just bought a Power Cover.  Power Cover is recognized as both a keyboard and a battery under devises.  All firmware ever pushed is there and updated. Battery #1 and Battery #2 show in the battery menu...but not charging or maybe 100% charged is completely depleted. 

Once the internal battery reaches 80% (or so) the Power Cover charge goes from 0% to 100% and not charging.  Once the internal battery is depleted, the Surface shuts off and the Power Cover sits there happily doing nothing to help. 

Has Microsoft just ignored the many people that this problem has occurred to, or is there not a fix.  I'm trying to hold out till the Surface Go, but this battery thing is annoying to deal with.

Please don't add the gif. of how the batteries charge or how the blue fills the keyboard and monitor, please please don't answer with that.

    Thanks for the info Pete. I live in Australia too and bought the power cover on ebay which was shipped from States. Personally, I wouldn't want a replacement done because I'll have to ship it way back to the seller and then again wait for replacement to be delivered but I am also apprehensive about doing such an operation like you did. Looks, like i'll have to use it as it is.. 

    Btw why did you get a replacement done when you were able to figure out the problem and the solution? And whats your feedback on the replaced units?

    I did another one today and managed to get it back together far nicer than the first one (I had no idea where to cut). Be neat with your cutting, use a steel rule so the cuts are straight and cut about 2-3mm in from the ridgeline on the sides, and about 6-7mm in from the ridgeline on the ends. I was originally going to wrap the back cover with some carbon look vinyl, but I am happy with the result.

    I think the ebay vendor knew that these are faulty, as a, he was very understanding to the problem and offered a replacement very quickly, and b, both units I received had been opened and both units were brand new. (i'm thinking that they had been both tested)

    Again, unless you are confident with a multi-meter and applying power to the cells, do not try this.

    Thanks for sharing these pics (and the great idea). Did the fabric cover come back together neatly after your "surgery"?  I just don't want to wreck what is at least a working keyboard...

    It is working really well, I did a battery report after its first charge and it was showing higher capacity than what it was supposed to have :)

    No, unfortunately the battery will not eventually wake up as the voltage has dwelled bellow the BMS threshold voltage, as such the charging circuitry will not charge the batteries :(

    Bellow is an extract of the battery report that I did after the first charge, I haven't run one since as I have been playing with another keyboard, as such the report will be skewed.

    Does it still work good? I have the same problem but I am not willing to do such an operation like you did! 

    Could it be that eventually the battery 'wakes up' by taking the charge or is it that boost is the only option to kick on the battery?
