BATTERY DRAIN ISSUE OF SURFACE PRO 6

I use my Surface Pro 6 for official work. No heavy usage for the Surface Pro 6, The device is on from morning 10AM to evening 7 PM. After that the device is switched off and kept in the backpack.

But...

After recent update received for Surface Pro 6, I have noticed that the battery is drained by 5-10%. Even though the device is completely switched off then why the drain?? Plus I keep the device fully charged before shutting it off in the evening.

I do-not need the solution like reset the device & there is no heavy RAM usage application installed on the device. I have checked the RAM usage and there is no application as such which can drain the battery.

So kindly give the proper reason for the draining of the battery.

UPDATE 16-08-2019.

I had charged my device 100%; Switched it off completely and since it was holiday I kept my device turned off. Today morning i.e. 16-08-2019 at 10:15AM I switched on my device and the battery was at 84%. So it drained 16% while being switched off.

UPDATE 21-08-2019.

Still facing the problem, but I think I have find out the issue. I thick the issue is that the SURFACE PRO 6 TYPE COVER (KEYBOARD); is draining the battery. I stated this because on 17-08-2019 I had de-attached the type cover from the device and carried it separately. The next morning the battery was not drained at all. I am not 100% sure. But I did see it; I will try it again today. Lets see what happens.

    I just gave up today.

    After a month of waiting, the battery issue was still not addressed. I was getting paranoid every time I brought it out. I tried all snake oils (remove cover keyboard/disable wifi/power settings) but nothing worked. Sometimes it worked fine one day or two but the symptoms came back.

    Even without the battery death drop, I could only get ~5 hours with light use (web/VSCode/OneNote). Apart from battey, my CPU randomly got lock to 0.4GHz when connected to AC.

    I scheduled a service with MS store and showed the rep battey logs, which included multiple 20% drops in minutes. He was surprised and said I was the first person reporting this. He also used the diagnosis tool but found it seemed nothing was wrong with the battery. The service is top notch other than waiting time.

    So IMO, everybody that got affected should claim the warranty. According to MS support, it is NOT a wide ranging issue.

    I'm also curious whether the issue only affected some particular batch, and wondering when and where everybody else bought the surface. I got it last Dec from Costco.

    It's not a wifi bug. Wifi doesn't draw power when the device is completed shutdown. I'm not talking about sleep/connected standby/hibernation, I'm talking about a 25% power loss upon start up only when the device has been fully powered off.

    Guys check if its a wifi bug... I believe its draining the battery.

    Same issue here for one of my two surface pro 6. one has a problem and the other one works fine. I will try to force shutdown the surface holding the power button for 10 seconds ('Turn on fast mode" already disabled). the issue happened before the upgrade to 1903, I thought 1903 will fix it so I upgraded the machines, still one has the issue and the other one is fine. The diagnostic toolkit passes the battery test successfully. I tested it again today; it was 100% the time I shut it down, overnight, Turned on the surface in the morning at 6:30 am, and the battery drained to 75%. Any thoughts?

    Surface Pro 6, i7 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD. Windows 10 Enterprise 64bit. Code42 (CrashPlan), Dropbox, and Sophos antivirus are installed. the machine is BitLocker encrypted. maybe some of the apps are causing the problem? maybe the keyboard cover is doing the problem (I did not test it yet without the cover).

    Note: The surface that has no issue is always charged through SP4 (dock charger). the surface pro 6 that has the issue is charged through the new surface pro 6 dock charger. could it be the charger? I can't test them right away because the VP has no time for testing or taking his surface pro away.

    Another thing I've noticed that the surface pro 6 that has no issue with the battery, I let it drain in the past few times to 0% until it's completely down. then charge it again to 100%. I did not try this on the surface pro 6 that has the issue.
