Hi Ken645,
Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Community with your inquiry! We value the time you have taken to post and contribute. I am sorry to hear that you get the UEFI menu every time you power on your Surface Pro 2. I can certainly see why this is confusing
and bothersome, so please know I will try my best to assist and guide you in the right direction.
Whenever you need to access the UEFI menu, you must
press and hold the volume-up button on your Surface. For this reason, we ask you to please verify and test that the volume-up button on your Surface is not stuck and it is indeed working properly.
You can do several things in order to try this: accessing any video site, playing music to checking if you are indeed able to control the volume properly, and also testing the volume with the Type Cover and without the Cover.
If the volume-up button is working properly, please check the following:
- Make sure you have all and latest Windows updates installed. Please manually check for updates and install all that are available:
- **Desktop> Swipe for Charms> Settings> Control panel> Windows update> check for updates> install.**Restart between layers of updates, even if not prompted to. Restart twice after the last update installs.
- Additionally, try holding down the "Volume UP" and the "Power Button" at the same time for about 15 to 20 seconds. It should do a reboot and if no activity, release and 'click' the power button one time.
If the button is indeed stuck, then we suggest you contact our
Technical Support Team. Depending on what is most convenient for you, you can:
- Open a service request yourself, using our **Online Service Center**
- Contact our Technical Support team**here**
I am also including a support article that should be helpful:
