WiFi deteriorates after closing the lid on Surface Book connected to Surface Dock

If I close the lid of my Surface Book while connected to a Surface Dock, WiFi speed will drop from 54 Mbps to as low as 1 Mpbs.  The WiFi router is an AT&T U-Verse Pace 3801 HGV and the power setting for close the lid while plugged in is Do Nothing.  I am taking this thing back to the store for a refund if it can't be fixed.

    A SOLUTION

    DETACH YOUR SCREEN

    TURN IT AROUND AND RE ATTACH IT

    BELIVE ME IT DOES ATTACH

    SHUT THE LID WITH THE SCREEN FACING UPWARDS!!!!!

    PROBLEM SOLVED

    I got the tip from the microsoft support team, they are aware of the issue and are working in a solution,

    I finally got sick enough of the issue that I just purchased a USB wifi adapter to attach to my dock at home.  It's a bit ridiculous to have a laptop this expensive that requires an external adapter to provide basic functionality, but I'd rather do that than have to insert some sort of *shim* every time I want to run it with the lid closed.

    same problem, drop the lid the wifi cuts out, solution

    plastic folder, cut a piece of plastic 4 inches x the width of the keyboard, place it on the track pad area, works a treat, a trackpad and palm guard may do the job too.

    but for a new high end item its not acceptable, a software or firmware solution may not be available, it could well be the magnetic closure interfearing with the wifi module i.e a design issue.

    Every other laptop in the market allows you to close the laptop and still be connected to wifi, the surface book has no reason to be different,
