Well, I have finally been able to install the firmware by running all updates (including a windows update that takes something like 700-800 mb) before. Then, with my surface being in the docking station (not sure if it was necessary though), I restarted my it and the firmware update finally succeeded.

I have the same problem, and tried reinstalling with it at 100% and no keyboard, but I still have the "yellow triangle" and failed "firmware" note in the update list.

I have had this less than a month, and although it seems to be working I am worried that this was a firmware update it is important that it should be on my surface pro i7

My problem has resolved itself and I am not sure how, I think it was not updating the driver because the pro was not on charge along with the keyboard being attached , which I am sure I read somewhere sometimes causes updates not to install
