Thanks for confirming. I had a call back from Microsoft support this morning to confirm Microsoft are aware and working to release a fix in January. I was once again offered a replacement (refurbished) Surface, however as my second surface was only 5 days old, I opted to return it to the retailer for an exchange.

Frustrating I've worked my way through three surfaces in just over a week, however the hardware id of the touch controller firmware in my latest surface is REV_1AA1B42 and does not suffer the problems reported throughout this thread. Third time lucky...?

    Aidan.

    Aidan,

Did this issue start for you after the last set of updates in November or did it start earlier after the October update? You've posted in two thread so wanted to be clear.

Also, what is the case # Microsoft gave you on this issue.

I have strong suspicion that this is somehow related to only hardware id REV_1A31A36.  If you open up the touch firmware installation INF, there is not an entry for this hardware ID and thus I believe why the installation is failing.  I like to hear from anyone who has success with firmware 426.27.66.0 on this hardware ID.

I'm on my second surface with touch controller firmware hardware id REV_1A31A36... Have tried the suggested solutions provided in the thread and from Microsoft support multiple times without success.

@ccote, good to hear you've resolved the issue - can you confirm the hardware id of your touch controller firmware?

    Aidan.

Hi, the touch controller firmware version oils 426.27.66.0. The driver provider is N-Trig. Hardware Id is REV_1AA1B42.

Let me know if you have other questions,

    Ccote
