Surface Pro 3 - Missing Surface Pro Touch Controller Firmware after reimage

MDT 2013 - Windows 8.1 all updates.

Download surface Pro 3 firmware and driver http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=38826 to mdt 2013 out of box driver. Reimaged it, but missing only one and most essential driver

Surface Pro Touch Controller Firmware

without this driver, surface pro is just untouchable...can anyone help me to find this driver.

    So those of us that DO have the problematic hardware (REV_1A31A36) - we just live with it until MS decides to "fix" it?

    OK, I did the 100% charged up and still plugged in and uninstall the yellow triangle firmware and then power down thing. After powering up, there is no yellow triangle to be seen and the names of the firmware are now different - there is no touch firmware

    • there are still four. The touch screen works just fine, of course - it always has for me no matter what the name of the firmware is or if it had a yellow triangle.

    Is this just a silly problem with Device Manager reporting, or maybe some weirdness of some low-level driver accurately reporting its health wrong? My Surface Pro 3 has worked just right since the first day I had it - yellow triangles and all.

    You basically just removed the new firmware update and put back the factory version.  However the triangle will re-appear next time Windows Update makes another attempt to install the 11/18 firmware.  There is no resolution until Microsoft can issue a new version.  In the meanwhile, it does not appear to impact any functionality.  It's just not using the latest firmware.

    That's a possible explanation. Yes, the dreaded yellow triangle returned to the now renamed touch firmware when I forced a full update.

    I have some seemingly naïve questions: Why does an old driver (firmware) get installed when I uninstall the yellow triangle offender firmware? Shouldn't Microsoft be installing the most recent driver (firmware) when PNP notices a missing one? Or does this firmware somehow not lend itself to the idea that there is "the latest" and the only way it exists in the form of the "old one" and then an update patch? That's not how things have been in this realm.

    So Microsoft - where's the fix?

    That is what happened. Driver installed perfectly.

    Great for you.  Can you please check the hardware ID that you have?  Double-click on the "Surface Pro Touch Controller Firmware" and look under Details tab.

    Here is the Hardware Id you requested:

    Still no more yellow triange and all software updated.

    Hope you have similar luck.

    Now to address my pen not showing up in the bluetooth setup:

    After doing some online research it would appear that a possible explanation would be that the button batteries discharged somehow during transit.

    I will post when I have tested this theory.

    Busy time of year so I may not have results right away.
