Surface Pro 2017 touchpad mouse freezing

I've got a new Surface Pro 2017 and today the mouse pointer being driven by the touchpad has started freezing for 1-2 seconds.

All the latest updates are installed.

I've removed the mouse from device manager and then ran Scan for new Hardware.

I've removed and re-installed the lastest Surface firmware package.

But it still does it, however it only seems to happen when the device is on power. It works fine on battery.

Any ideas?

    Same problem here. In my case the problem occurs with and without the power cable connected and working at anyplace. I happens before a major upgrading and still happens after that. My USB mouse works perfectly when connected. I also tried the suggested measures for solving the problem...with no success.

    I honestly find amazing that Microsoft cannot find a solution for this issue after months of complaints.

    I have the same issue.  I just got a brand new Surface Pro on Friday, January 4, 2019.  Fortunately I was able to quickly identify the problem as occurring only when the device is plugged in.  I'm using the adapter from a late 2017 Surface Pro.  I will try using the adapter that came with this new device and update.  But it is absolutely clear that the problem only happens when plugged in.  

    UPDATE:

    Using the brand new Surface Pro 2019 adapter versus the previous adapter makes no difference. 

    It works fine at my house and only happens when I plug into certain outlets.  There is a power outlet at the local skating rink that consistently causes the cursor to freeze when I plug into it.    

    This tells me either the electricity on the line is dirty, or there is a lot of electromagnetic interference in the air at this rink that is being caught by the power cable and adapter.  As a next step, I have purchased a "Greenwave Dirty Electricity Filter" from Amazon for $30.  I should get it this week, and I will try to check it next Saturday, January 19, at the rink, and give a further update.  If it solves the problem, then I can definitively say the freeze-ups that I, at least, am experiencing, are caused by plugging into dirty electricity.

    UPDATE from me.

    My touchpad has been working perfectly during several days. I can only think of two 'changes' that happened just before the problem disappeared: 1) I did run a windows update (a quick one), and 2) I connected again my Bluetooth external mouse to the laptop (a Logitech mouse that I had not connected since the problem started). I have unplugged the USB receiver of the Bluetooth mouse and the touchpad is still working fine.

    I am crossing my fingers for not having back the same issue!

    It's obviously under powered so the issue will keep happening. It is most notable with multiple windows running.
