Surface Pro 2017 touchpad mouse freezing

I've got a new Surface Pro 2017 and today the mouse pointer being driven by the touchpad has started freezing for 1-2 seconds.

All the latest updates are installed.

I've removed the mouse from device manager and then ran Scan for new Hardware.

I've removed and re-installed the lastest Surface firmware package.

But it still does it, however it only seems to happen when the device is on power. It works fine on battery.

Any ideas?

Regards,

Greg

actually the "Power" tab under "System" is missing altogether). Another dead end...

I had the same issue - the Microsoft driver that was installed by Windows update for the graphics card is... less than current.

Went to Intel, downloaded the drivers directly, and Microsoft had, of course, blocked them from being installed - had to download the .zip, go to device manager, update manually, then I got the power options - however, for me anyway, the Panel Self Refresh option only shows up in the 'On Battery' section - I switched it anyway, and gave a reboot - I still ran into the issue, but this at least gets me closer.

I had the mouse freezes on on my new surface book 3 15'' Model.

I tried all Updates, manual Firmware-Upgrade, checked USB-Settings. This fixed this issue in January. In February I had the Problem one time, detaching and reattaching the display helped.

But the freezes came back today. I'll try the "disable Panel Self Refresh fix". If this doesn't work, I'll try the usb-inference Theory by plug in the mouse-Dongle with a short cable.

In the beta version from the ms-store the Option is there:

Hope this helps. Hope this solves.

I have the exact same problem with my new Surface Pro 7 for business. As soon as I plug it in, the trackpad is unresponsive or sporadic and when I unplug it works fine. I downloaded and ran the suface diagnostic toolkit, all latest patches and firmware and no issues detected. While this is happening the pen works fine, touchscreen works. It is just the trackpad.

I was plague with this issue as well, as time passes by i just didnt care at all i just give up. i installed all the updates and firmwares that microsoft releases hoping it might get fixed,

To my surprise my surface pro 7 is now free from this issue i think around 6 months now, either charge or unplugged from charger  it doesnt matter touchpad is working properly, i dont know which particular update from microsoft or firmware that fixed the issue but as of this writing it works great. As it like it healed itself

I hope your surface will heal itself too.
