I've got a new Surface Pro 2017 and today the mouse pointer being driven by the touchpad has started freezing for 1-2 seconds.
All the latest updates are installed.
I've removed the mouse from device manager and then ran Scan for new Hardware.
I've removed and re-installed the lastest Surface firmware package.
But it still does it, however it only seems to happen when the device is on power. It works fine on battery.
Any ideas?

Hey @Aray, still seeing the cursor freeze for 1-2 seconds on my Surface Book 2. Followed all instructions I could find in this and other forums.. no luck.
The fact that it is prevalent across Surface Book/Pro, and affects me with both the trackpad AND mouse leads me to think it's an OS-specific code issue, maybe? Like some bug in the NT kernel is lagging mouse user feedback.
Microsoft please help, this has been a problem for my Surface Book's entire life and across a full reinstall of the OS!
Frankly, I think it is a hardware problem; i.e. a faulty unit. The reason for this belief is not everyone has the problem. If the problem was in the OS or some other software/firmware, most everyone would be having the same problem, but it is apparent most everyone does not have the problem. Another guy I conversed with had his Surface Pro 7 replaced and his last report indicated he no longer has the problem.
Well.. As with so many other attempted solutions described in this thread the trackpad sensitivity change seemed to help for awhile and then back as bad as ever.
My latest change was to remove the Logitech Smooth Scrolling Chrome extension. I use a logitech mouse on another laptop. Again, for now, the problem is gone again. I will come back and report if this too fails in the long run.
In a previous post I reported the cursor stall/freeze problem had stopped for some unknown reason. It's back. BTW, the reason I include the term 'freeze' is because on occasion (once or more a day) the SP7 becomes totally unresponsive to any keyboard or screen (touch) input even though background tasks continue, for example an mp3 or video playing. After waiting for several minutes, I push the on/off button and re-enter the session and everything is back to normal.
I suspect the reason the problem temporarily stopped is because I was working on a project for over a week and didn't reboot the machine during that period; just put it in sleep mode. When I was done with the project and rebooted the machine, the problem started up again. No idea why. I'm returning the unit under warranty because it is obviously faulty.

As I have mentioned before in this forum, I have had my SP replaced twice. It was a case of 3rd time lucky since there hasn’t been a single issue ( yet ! ) of the cursor freezing ( mouse or trackpad ) from when i received my second replacement in August of last year.
Imagine the action that would take place if it was a car and the brake pedal kept sticking in the same model worldwide ! However, it’s “only” a laptop and MS couldn’t give a monkeys. Despite being one of the lucky ones who appears to have stumbled upon a solution, I shall revert to Apple for my next laptop.
