Surface Pro 2017 touchpad mouse freezing

I've got a new Surface Pro 2017 and today the mouse pointer being driven by the touchpad has started freezing for 1-2 seconds.

All the latest updates are installed.

I've removed the mouse from device manager and then ran Scan for new Hardware.

I've removed and re-installed the lastest Surface firmware package.

But it still does it, however it only seems to happen when the device is on power. It works fine on battery.

Any ideas?

Regards,

Greg

Seems like microsoft are ignoring this problem.

I posted months ago about this, have seen loads of others complaining of the same thing, but microsoft dont seem to recognise there is a problem.

    Any answers gratefully received!!!!

I'm also facing this Issue with my surface pro 2017 however it only seems to occur when the charger is plugged in.

    I'm running Windows build: 19546.rs_prerelease:200110-1443

I'm struggling to use the machine for work due to this.

    Everybody:

    mine doesn't freeze anymore.

my PEN was interfering with the touch-pad.

I took the battery out of my PEN, and everything worked perfectly.

I put the battery back in, and all the symptoms re-emerged.

So, my Surface PEN is in another bag.

When I want to use it (because I don't use it all the time), I put the battery in and use it.

No idea if this helps you, but it worked for me.

    cheers all,

    Steve

I hate to be the negative person but I never found a solution to this problem with my Surface Pro 5 and ended up getting rid of it

I dont think there is a solution which is really bad, Microsoft needs to address this. Their products are amazing but not if there is a problem like this.

    I have a 2017 Surface Pro.

The touchpad cursor freezes every evening from about 5pm.  I've tried everything.  When the cursor freezes, I generally have to use the touchscreen mode which never freezes - ever, but does not give you what you need for some kinds of work.

So for me it's def the touchpad that is the problem and it is when it is plugged in that the problem occurs.

It seems to me that MS must be working on this - it is not a one off clearly - it is an endemic fault with the Surface Pro.  Not acceptable and given I use mine for work and for home use, I will have to move to another brand if this is not sorted - it seems to have been going on since the Pro3 - we are now on the 7!
