I've got a new Surface Pro 2017 and today the mouse pointer being driven by the touchpad has started freezing for 1-2 seconds.
All the latest updates are installed.
I've removed the mouse from device manager and then ran Scan for new Hardware.
I've removed and re-installed the lastest Surface firmware package.
But it still does it, however it only seems to happen when the device is on power. It works fine on battery.
Any ideas?

I purchased an extra generic charger for my surface pro 2017 from amazon. I have this problem with this generic charger when i'm using the tablet and charging at the same time. The touchpad on the cover freezes all of the time. But does not behave this way when using the original charger from microsoft with their hologram. I suspect that microsoft looks for some builtin chip in their charger and if they don't see it, they cause this erratic behavior.

Yes, I'm also experiencing the problem of the freezing cursor which is terribly frustrating.
However, completely by chance, I think I may have hit open something. An earlier comment on this forum mentioned that the cursor started to freeze usually after 9pm ! I also noticed, after just 4 days of use, that mine starts to freeze after 6pm on every one of those 4 days.
I went to Settings/Update & Security/Change Active Hours. Sure enough, it was set to a Start Time of 0800 and an End Time of 1800. I have since changed those settings to 0700 & 0000 respectively. No freezes so far but time will tell if my experience was merely coincidence.
I will report back later.
The PC worked fine for several months before getting this bug.
I have the exact same problem. Updated everything and still having the freeze.
One item to note is that touching the touch screen will usually unfreeze the touch pad. This is so annoying I want to throw this thing through the window.
I just purchased a new Surface pro and have the same issues with freezing mouse, using touchpad on power. Its fine if you unplug it from the power. Everything is update to date, all the drivers are good, and I ran the diagnostics tool and there are no issues.
