Surface Pro 4, Screen Flickering, Shaking

Your post was very Timely. I was looking at purchasing the surface 7 yesterday. They are on sale now. Call me crazy but I like the surface even though my Surface Pro 4 failed I really wanted another one. But your post has convinced me to leave it alone. I have to start looking for something else. I'm more reliable product. I cannot afford to keep replacing a computer every 3 or 4 years. I was very disappointed with Microsoft's response to this problem. If anyone knows whether or not there is a class action suit for this problem please let me know.

I too had the screen flickering problem with my Surface V4 after the warranty ran out.

(I think I mentioned in an earlier  reply that my wife using an HP computer had the same jumpy screen problem and it is obviously not a Surface device.} In my case my V4's problem is heat. I can use it for 1/2 day before the heat builds up, 

I really like the Surface line and sprung for a Surface V7.which you can get with LOTS of main storage up to 1 terabyte. I chose 1/2 terabyte size for mine since it was on sale. My key advise is to order it as a business machine with the business 3 year all causes warranty. It includes dropping it! That gave me the confidence of buying the new Surface. The cost of the business warranty was $249 Canadian.

As it turns out my new Surface V7 did have a problem. A major one-- the solid state disk (SSD) failed -- all 1/2 terabytes of it. The Surface even diagnosed the problem itself. Anyways, Microsoft sent me out a replacement machine right away without waiting for my defective machine to be returned. They gave me 14 days to return the old unit via Microsoft prepaid UPS shipment. I was very pleased with the whole replacement process. The Business warranty make a big difference in the way they processed the replacement.

One last note. The Surface V7 uses a more powerful power supply unit marked at 65 watts. It seems to have mind of its own. Sometimes my unit stops working for a while. Unplugging the unit from the wall outlet for a few minutes. Fiddling with the wires in and out of the power unit won't help. If this keeps up, I will ask for a new one of these to be replaced for free of course,

Purchased new and used very little and can only use my surface pro 4 for about 30 mins at a time and then the screen goes crazy. Microsoft will not help past 3 years after purchase. Take away is that Microsoft products only have a 3 year lifespan these days I guess. Too afraid to risk buying a new one but hey if you want to pay $500 I can have this paperweight fixed. 

Anyone have a link to the class action lawsuits that are still active?

I have had no response or help from Microsoft. I bought my wife the S4 and like many others it developed flickering right around the 3 year mark. She has been trying to use it, I dont know how. I get dizzy just looking at the screen. Its been a year with no help from Micrsoft I am looking for a replacement. I guess Ill just have to spend more money and go with Apple. Too bad Microsoft wouldnt back up their known problem. Either dont have the revenue, honesty or both to back their products and the people who trusted them with their hard earned money. Very disappointing and eye opening.
