Surface Pro 4, Screen Flickering, Shaking

I purchased SP4 device a few months ago and it was working fine for a month. Then I noticed that when the CPU is at its max, the screen flickers a bit. Investigating further revealed that it flickers even if it is setting idle. It does not flicker if at least one of the following thing is done:

  1. A video being played in browser 
  2. If I keep the touch screen busy by either taping it or keeping a finger on it
  3. If I use the touchpad
  4. If keyboard is used for typing

This resulted in making the device completely unusable while reading articles or ebooks. I am a developer, most of the time I have to read the code and to do that, I have to constantly keep a finger on the touch pad or the screen. I contacted surface support in October and November and was told that the developers are working on the patch. Looking at the updates the developers are pushing since then, I don't think anyone is even aware of the problem there.

Just wondering if anyone else had the same problem (and the fix) and if not, what's the procedure for the refund? I will rather go for a mac then sacrificing $2000+ for a dancing screen.

    i have the same problem since, last 4 months and its getting worst. i am here in saudi arabia and when i call the contact no. they redirect to the websitee, and at website they informed my device is out of service. but its still within the 3years or purchase.

    Since 3 years now I'm a LOYAL APPLE user !! And I am sooo happy about it!

    That piece of flickering Microsoft **** I crashed with a hammer with a great pleasure 3 years ago, and it was such a right decision not to pay any sent for it anymore, go and get Macbook pro, and work happily for 3 years already, no struggling with Microsoft updates, bugs ets, it was a NIGHTMARE - now I realise how different experience can be!

    And Mac machine with the the same configuration feels like double faster!

    People, don't waste your time an money with Microsoft!!! I hope they are doomed! - they still promoting this flickering sh..t, when I see that -  I pity their customers.

    I am very upset with Microsoft right now

    I have this very issue and it is very serious. After a few hours of use when the device warms up the Screen flicker makes it impossible to see properly the whole screen until it cools down again

    I have only just managed to contact Microsoft support about this KNOWN ISSUE and they have informed me that because i bought my device 3.5 years ago they cannot help me unless i fork out over £567!

    This seems very unfair considering it is a KNOWN MICROSOFT FACTORY ISSUE!

    I asked who I can speak to about this and i have been told- NOBODY. 

    Can anyone on this forum help me?

    I am a loyal microsoft customer and am bewildered that they would treat a customer like this

    How is this not considered eligible to have a class action law suit? I'm having the exact same problem and only found that out due to being forced to use it at home because of the virus and when I contacted support, all they told me was to either pay $800 or I can't get a replacement. They refused to replace my device for free.

    Considering the cost of new Surface Pro 7 or Dell 2in1 $800 might be worth it if the replace the faulty components. The real problem is they dont treat all customers who bought the same product with the same deal. Its called equal application of rules. If they dont treat all Surface Pro 4 screen issues the same, albiet they need to show how a unit sell date makes the hardware different to deserve different treatment. If no HW diff then they can be sued
