Surface Pro 4, Screen Flickering, Shaking

I purchased SP4 device a few months ago and it was working fine for a month. Then I noticed that when the CPU is at its max, the screen flickers a bit. Investigating further revealed that it flickers even if it is setting idle. It does not flicker if at least one of the following thing is done:

  1. A video being played in browser 
  2. If I keep the touch screen busy by either taping it or keeping a finger on it
  3. If I use the touchpad
  4. If keyboard is used for typing

This resulted in making the device completely unusable while reading articles or ebooks. I am a developer, most of the time I have to read the code and to do that, I have to constantly keep a finger on the touch pad or the screen. I contacted surface support in October and November and was told that the developers are working on the patch. Looking at the updates the developers are pushing since then, I don't think anyone is even aware of the problem there.

Just wondering if anyone else had the same problem (and the fix) and if not, what's the procedure for the refund? I will rather go for a mac then sacrificing $2000+ for a dancing screen.

    1. Sign in to the Device service repair page with your Microsoft account.
    2. Select your device.

    ·         If your device isn’t listed, you’ll need to first register your device.

    1. Select Start a service order and follow the instructions to complete the submission process

    I had been on the page been on before where it tells you are 'out of warranty' (you need to register your SP btw) but by starting a 'service order' it actually put me through to a real working human who was very helpful and actually sent me a real e-mail with a case number!!

    What they ask for is photo / movie proof that you have the issue but the words 'we will organise your replacement' were used.

    Lets hope.

    Geez... you guys just dont read the instructions.......

    You firstly go to Atlantis, then seek out "He who doth know all"

    He will give you instructions on where to sent activation email for the brick

    The brick will not work until it has been activated and rebooted

    Once you have the email, follow the instructions which will be handed to you on disolvable parchment by "He who doth know all"

    Then and only then, can you reboot the brick!

    Oh" did I mention, whilst in Atlantis, you needed to also seek out the binary confluescensator app, it is currently unavalable outside Atlantis, it will be re-released some time soon and made available to all those over 60 who can present their great grandparents as evidence of parentage.

    There, see, it is not that difficult!.
