Surface Pro 4, Screen Flickering, Shaking

I purchased SP4 device a few months ago and it was working fine for a month. Then I noticed that when the CPU is at its max, the screen flickers a bit. Investigating further revealed that it flickers even if it is setting idle. It does not flicker if at least one of the following thing is done:

  1. A video being played in browser 
  2. If I keep the touch screen busy by either taping it or keeping a finger on it
  3. If I use the touchpad
  4. If keyboard is used for typing

This resulted in making the device completely unusable while reading articles or ebooks. I am a developer, most of the time I have to read the code and to do that, I have to constantly keep a finger on the touch pad or the screen. I contacted surface support in October and November and was told that the developers are working on the patch. Looking at the updates the developers are pushing since then, I don't think anyone is even aware of the problem there.

Just wondering if anyone else had the same problem (and the fix) and if not, what's the procedure for the refund? I will rather go for a mac then sacrificing $2000+ for a dancing screen.

    Hi, Mikos82,

    I have many product from the Apple compagny (Ipod, Iphone, Ipad) and it is all working after many number of year but i have not a Mac Book. I think you are happy with Mac Book because i look that.

    I purchase a Surface Pro because the product look great before i purchase but after on year it is not the case :(

    @mikkos82, sad that you are one of the affected. Beside giving your warning in this MS Community, I suggest you do one extra step to warn more people around you of the Surface problem. Let the news spread like wild fire. I had successfully stop my associate & friend from buy Surface for their Sales team & for themselves respectively. At least, I save a few that might land up having the same problem like us. I will never buy any MS hardware ever.

    The same thing here. I really want to warn anyone who is considering to buy any Microsoft Surface device. Please think twice. 

    I bought MacBook Pro even though I am not any big Apple fan. But at least they more honest company and cares about customers.

    Hi,

    I had the same problem (screen flikering, shacking) after one year and 2 weeks of buying my surface pro 4 i5-6300 8Gig 256 Gig.

    I called Microsoft several times and tried their usual solutions but without success (reinstall driver, reinstall Windows, etc.).

    I had the same problem in UEFI mode. Their last solution was the replacement of the tablet but at my expense (549$ Can + Tx = 631.21$ Can).

    I told them that I would not put such an amount in a product that is no longer usable after one year and I bought an Ipad Pro instead that is much more reliable.

    I regret bitterly the purchase of this Microsoft tablet + keyboard and it is sure that I will not buy more tablet from Microsoft.

    I am a very disappointed customer of this company (Microsoft) but now very satisfied with my new Ipad Pro!
