Surface Pro 4, Screen Flickering, Shaking

I purchased SP4 device a few months ago and it was working fine for a month. Then I noticed that when the CPU is at its max, the screen flickers a bit. Investigating further revealed that it flickers even if it is setting idle. It does not flicker if at least one of the following thing is done:

A video being played in browser
If I keep the touch screen busy by either taping it or keeping a finger on it
If I use the touchpad
If keyboard is used for typing

This resulted in making the device completely unusable while reading articles or ebooks. I am a developer, most of the time I have to read the code and to do that, I have to constantly keep a finger on the touch pad or the screen. I contacted surface support in October and November and was told that the developers are working on the patch. Looking at the updates the developers are pushing since then, I don't think anyone is even aware of the problem there.

Just wondering if anyone else had the same problem (and the fix) and if not, what's the procedure for the refund? I will rather go for a mac then sacrificing $2000+ for a dancing screen.

I am sorry that you are experiencing this, can you post photos or videos of what you have been experiencing?

When was your device purchased ? How old was it when it started exhibiting the problem?

Also have you contributed to the survey?

Computer World has done three articles on the issue. We have also been reaching out to other tech blogs and journalists. If you search these forums and reddit, you will come across other users who have been experiencing the same issue.

We are trying to make owners and potential purchasers aware.

My Surface Pro 4 i5 8GB 256GB started to have this screen shaking/jumping problem about 2 weeks ago (sometimes after the mentioned Oct updates).

Sometimes it just shakes violently. Sometimes it shakes too fast and it causes double blurry words which hurts the eyes to even look at.

I tried everything without resault. Clean reinstallation of OS did not work either.

It shakes even on boot screen. Yes, the Surface logo shakes on booting!

Call to MS support did not fix a thing. They either want me to pay $29 for “troubleshooting”, or pay $450 to replace my device with a refurbished one.

My warrantly had expired as well. But to think such expensive (total $1500 with all the accessories) device did NOT last me even 2 years, it is frustrating.

They just can’t force customers to pay again for faulty/flawed hardware issues. It is unacceptable！

My nearest MS store is 5 hours away... Call to them also ended up with i have to pay $450 for a refurbished replacement.   Never in my life such expensive device became unusable in less than two years and I have to pay again for faulty/defective hardware? No thanks. If it really comes to paying again，i would rather pay more to get a new one from someone else.

It is unacceptable behavior of MS to screwing with customers! Nothing short of recall, or replace at no cost will make us not to be upset!

Up until this problem occoured in middle/late Oct, i had no idea this is a common issue with Surface.

Even just 2 days before the problem occured, i said Surface when a friend asked me what to buy for a new computer. Good thing I stopped her on time and she did not go for it. I would advice everyone not to get a Surface from now on with my first hand experience...until MS can give me a satisfying solution.

It seems these serious issues with Surface are hundreds times more common than the battery issue with Samsung note 7. See what Samsung did after the bad press?

We need to do better on spreading the words. Talking about let mainstream media to report it to the mass！

I will try to capture mine one in good quality. My flickering issue is more like ghosting and the camera is not capturing it properly.
