Surface Pro 4, Screen Flickering, Shaking

I purchased SP4 device a few months ago and it was working fine for a month. Then I noticed that when the CPU is at its max, the screen flickers a bit. Investigating further revealed that it flickers even if it is setting idle. It does not flicker if at least one of the following thing is done:

  1. A video being played in browser 
  2. If I keep the touch screen busy by either taping it or keeping a finger on it
  3. If I use the touchpad
  4. If keyboard is used for typing

This resulted in making the device completely unusable while reading articles or ebooks. I am a developer, most of the time I have to read the code and to do that, I have to constantly keep a finger on the touch pad or the screen. I contacted surface support in October and November and was told that the developers are working on the patch. Looking at the updates the developers are pushing since then, I don't think anyone is even aware of the problem there.

Just wondering if anyone else had the same problem (and the fix) and if not, what's the procedure for the refund? I will rather go for a mac then sacrificing $2000+ for a dancing screen.

    Hello

    I got the same problem with my Surface Pro 4 for the last 2 months. Screen flicker whenever there is no movement on the screen. Today it evolved. Now video freezes images while the rest of the video are playing in the background.

    Microsoft have made me reinstall drivers and reset to factory settings. Nothing works. 

    And it seems the screen flicker problem have been around since 2015. 

    Seems like poppycock to me

    Having this same problem for about 3-4 months. And its seriously weird and unproductive to have such a high priced defected device. What I do in MS Pro 4 is basically related to writing and reading. And the way this screen flickers (only after 30-40 minutes), just ups and down sometimes, its so terrible to get such an unproductive product with that much money. And the sad part is MS didn't help its clients at all.

    Ah...

    I thought I am the only one who has the problem 

    Or is it my eyes got problem.. and I went to check whther my eyeglases have a problem 

    It happens getting often than before

    I never dropped or bumped the sp4 to anything 

    So. What is the problem

    Why and how to fix it?

    Ok ... ran the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility ... stress tests.

    5 minutes each for CPU, Memory, and Graphics tests and ... no flickering.

    It triggered the Power Limit Throttling many times.

    But when running the Graphics stress test, I did see the 'band' along the top of the screen ... but faintly.

    One thing I forgot to mention, I am on the Insider Preview Builds.  The Just fixes, apps and drivers.
