Surface Pro 4, Screen Flickering, Shaking

I purchased SP4 device a few months ago and it was working fine for a month. Then I noticed that when the CPU is at its max, the screen flickers a bit. Investigating further revealed that it flickers even if it is setting idle. It does not flicker if at least one of the following thing is done:

  1. A video being played in browser 
  2. If I keep the touch screen busy by either taping it or keeping a finger on it
  3. If I use the touchpad
  4. If keyboard is used for typing

This resulted in making the device completely unusable while reading articles or ebooks. I am a developer, most of the time I have to read the code and to do that, I have to constantly keep a finger on the touch pad or the screen. I contacted surface support in October and November and was told that the developers are working on the patch. Looking at the updates the developers are pushing since then, I don't think anyone is even aware of the problem there.

Just wondering if anyone else had the same problem (and the fix) and if not, what's the procedure for the refund? I will rather go for a mac then sacrificing $2000+ for a dancing screen.

    Same problem here. After 2 years the screen started shaking and its not usable any longer. Its a dead paper weight now. Microsoft is asking me to pay RM2120 ($504) due to their policy when the warranty is out which I find it very expensive as and the price cost 1/3 of what i paid for. I'm not sure if this is a hardware problem or software as before I reseted it does not have this problem. Any enlightenment ? I'm not ready to pay that much amount of money yet.

    I completely agree. I got the surface pro to be used for writing notes by hand. However you can now also do that on the ipad. I may just dump windows overall and move to macs. I do have a macbook pro, and I have never encountered any issues with it. Whereas with my surface, there's issues all the time and microsoft doesn't really care enough to resolve them.

    I have the same problem as well. To be honest this may be the last Windows device I ever purchase. If they are going to charge this much for a piece of crap, and then charge me through the roof to replace their piece of crap, it is not worth it. Anyone that is thinking of purchasing anything from Windows should seriously reconsider. I have never had a positive experience with their company.

    I don't know what happened or what did i do, The flickes are gone in my sp4. I already test it with running games until my sp4 hot enough, it used to flicker alot before when it just a bit warm but now it's not flickering even when it's hot. Maybe because of the latest update?
