Surface Pro 4, Screen Flickering, Shaking

Since I use this unit for work, and can't afford being without PC for days or weeks (and have issues using our guest laptops), I decided to call Microsoft Surface support. I spoke with an excellent representative at "Premier Surface Support" @ Customer Services & Support | Microsoft Corp. He had me run through a few things, including sending pics and videos of performance issues also had me send 3 energy usage reports (below), and finally going to the UEFI screen (ghosting appeared - proving hardware problem). After all of this, a hardware issues was identified (no, really?) and Microsoft authorized an exchange (fortunately, it was still under warranty - which ends Feb2018) at our local Microsoft Store.

Energy reports (not sure what they got out of these):

Here are the commands to run in the command prompt if you could can you run these and send me the reports. To get the command prompt to come up on the keyboard press the windows key + x . In the left hand corner a window will pop up and select command prompt and then enter the commands listed below. The sleep study and the energy report you have to use the command prompt (admin). There is a space after cfg, report, and duration.

o    powercfg /batteryreport /duration 14                (Generates batteryreport.html)

o    powercfg /sleepstudy /duration 28                   (Generates sleepstudy-report.html)

o    powercfg /energy /duration 240                      (Generates energy-report.html)

Anyways, like many of you have mentioned, Microsoft has been pretty quite regarding this issue, but obviously know this is a hardware malfunction!

A real time-waster re-loading all my software, and now, waiting for the next Display Flickering and ghosting to re-appear (I'll blow a gasket!!)

Oh, it is most DEFINITELY hardware / firmware / HEAT related.  For me it started after a firmware update around the Feb / Mar 2017 time frame.  I bought it brand new in Dec 2015 and had ZERO issues with it until this past Feb / Mar.

NOTHING on these 44 pages fixes it but letting it cool down.  Power it back up and it is good for about 30 minutes using Firefox, which uses a lot less resources.  You fire up EdgeBloat and it may last 15 minutes.

The question now is when are we going to band together and force MS to recall and replace this high priced brick? It is completely ridiculous that they have refused to officially acknowledge this over-heating and they have had WAY more than enough time to address this.

p.s.  I have been supporting Microsoft products professionally at a Fortune 10 enterprise scale since 1994.  I know a hardware / firmware issue when I see one.  Fix it MS or replace it, now.

Happened to me 2x and even their tech team confirms its a hardware issue. Don't let Microsoft fool you into trying to tell you it Software it's just bad hardware design that causes your luxury surface to turn to a pile of useless ****.

It's a very common problem with the Surface yet Mircosoft won't do a recall.
