No need to be sorry the post will help people who want to do more than complain. As I stated before I get 7 hours of continuous YouTube viewing and all-day usage with Microsoft Office apps...Peace
How is your battery life on the Surface Pro 7?
I upgraded to the Surface Pro 7 - 8gb, 256GB from the SP4 8gb, 256GB. My SP4 hardly got an hour of battery and would shut off on battery without warning, so I constantly had it plugged into the wall wherever I went. I was hoping for much better on the SP7. Currently I am struggling to get a full 5 hours...closer to 4 hours.
Yes, I know I use Chrome and Edge, a number of Office windows open, might watch some YouTube and Netflix.
4 to 5 hours seems pathetically small.
Any other comments, suggestions or comparisons? (I know there's a need to 'bed in' a new battery in, I've had the laptop almost 2 weeks now, the battery should be 'bedding' in by now.
thanks in advance

2020-08-24T09:36:04+00:00 Sorry, but this is not how it's supposed to be. A new device, with nothing installed on it should work near its optimum performance.
I don't have time to spend tweaking and researching tips to fix something that is supposed to work from it's factory default state.
Let's say I do all those those things, in a couple of months Windows will still slow down and become loaded with background processes, as it always does.
Also, why should I use MS browser, I want to be able to chose which browser I use?
Sure, if I keep CPU + GPU at minimum performance, shut things down and keep display brightness at 10% I probably will squeeze some additional hour or so, but this is not the point with a high-end device, is it??
Another thing: it's the end of August and I still cannot install the May 2020 Windows update (2004). I mean this is ridiculous: the latest Microsoft device cannot install the latest Microsoft update!
Does anyone actually use these tablets at Microsoft?? Are they happy with them? Cause I surely am not.

2020-08-24T09:01:36+00:00 Hi, I get 7 hours of continuous YouTube playing on my SP7 (50% brightness, Wifi and battery saver on, Bluetooth off) and pretty much all day usage using Microsoft Office apps. Hope the following "fixes" help you as much as they have helped me:
- Apply recommendations from this webpage, "https://surfacetip.com/ultimate-tips-max-surface-pro-4-battery-life/" If Windows 10 2004 is instilled, #2 is no longer possible.
- Download (and only use) Microsoft Canary Edge Browser (https://www.microsoftedgeinsider.com/en-us/download). In the taskbar type "edge://flags". In the flags searchbox type "Turn off caching of streaming media to disk". Go to the drop-down menu on the right and click "Disabled". Goto the top of the page and on the right click "Reset all". Also, do this for the regular Microsoft Edge Browser.
3. Check for and fix corrupt files.
- In the search box on the taskbar, type Command Prompt, and right-click or press and hold Command Prompt (Desktop app) from the list of results. Select Run as administrator, and then select Yes.
- Type DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth (note the space before each "/"), and then press Enter. (Note: This step may take a few minutes to start and up to 30 minutes to complete.)
- After you see a message that says "The operation completed successfully," type sfc /scannow (note the space between "sfc" and "/") and press Enter.
- After you see a message that says, "Verification 100% complete," type exit.

2020-08-24T07:01:46+00:00 HI, my MSP7 i5 128GB hardly gets 4,5 hours run. And just internet browser and Spotify are open. The same goes for movies. I bought MSP7 with a desire to have a PC/tablet with long real battery life around 8 working hours. This is not the way to satisfy a customer. My question is for Microsoft. What are you doing with it? Do you care about it? Is it a problem with a physical design? Can you fix it by a software upgrade?

2020-07-06T15:30:24+00:00 Ha! I sold my Surfacebook 2 when i got the SP7 cos i thought my XPS 15 better for video editing etc, and the 4 hours battery on the clipboard insufficient. Little did i know!!
I'll see how the 2004 update goes and then begin to harass Microsoft!
