How is your battery life on the Surface Pro 7?

I upgraded to the Surface Pro 7 - 8gb, 256GB from the SP4 8gb, 256GB. My SP4 hardly got an hour of battery and would shut off on battery without warning, so I constantly had it plugged into the wall wherever I went.  I was hoping for much better on the SP7. Currently I am struggling to get a full 5 hours...closer to 4 hours.

Yes, I know I use Chrome and Edge, a number of Office windows open, might watch some YouTube and Netflix.

4 to 5 hours seems pathetically small.

Any other comments, suggestions or comparisons? (I know there's a need to 'bed in' a new battery in, I've had the laptop almost 2 weeks now, the battery should be 'bedding' in by now.

thanks in advance

I'd be lucky to get 4 hours so far.

When you say this do you mean with the type cover attached. The type cover from my experiences has significantly better battery when having no type cover or any accessories attached that uses the battery of the computer and not of its own.

Same here, only manage to get 4 to 5 hours (max) on a single charge.

I am going to assume this is with the type cover attached, I have tested and you actually get closer to the promised battery life without it. They false advertised and made it seem that the type cover was included in the 8-10 hour figure when it is not.

If anyone has any solutions for improved battery life and/or performance tips, please share.

The type cover drains the battery quicker if not needed detach it and you will get significantly better battery life.

I have recently realized through testing of my own that the claimed battery life does not include the power used by the keyboard. Their claims as I have observed only apply to the tablet and not the type cover. With the type cover attached you get significantly less battery life than advertised. I have as a student observed it lasting 2-3 classes if pushing it when the keyboard is attached and then one day I decided to try without keyboard and it had lasted the whole school day which is 7 hours long. Frankly they should be saying their advertised battery life is of the tablet itself only and not the combination of it and type cover or be advertising both the combined and separate battery life. Try this on your own try seeing the battery life of attached vs. detached.

Microsoft if they don't advertise this should at least find work arounds for the battery drain of the type cover.

Same. I got my surface pro a week ago and the battery drains quickly.
