Hi Everyone,

Has anyone been seeing intermittent Event 4101 "Display driver igfxn stopped responding and has successfully recovered" on surface laptop 3?

Tried all the surface diagnostics tools - all clean. Uninstalled device, reinstalled. - no joy.

Not had the laptop that long so not sure if updating to the latest surface firmware is the cause.

Not sure where to go from here. It happen maybe once every few days of constant use - very brief display blanking then recovers.

Is this a driver issue with the latest intel build? Or hardware issue? Nothing else wrong with the laptop.

thanks, appreciate it. It looks like it is fixable so I will do so but it has just been a disappointing (to say the least) and annoying experience. I had been spoiled, the string of thinkpads to surfaces of continual upgrade and not missing my last computer was broken with this one. Such is life but MS / Intel do not want too many biffs like this.

I don't blame you for returning  the machine even if Intel looks like its solved the problem.  I reckon they rushed the released of the product which is disappointing as its great laptop apart from this

thank you for sharing these steps. Why is this a warning in the log when clearly an error happened.

I am ready to return my machine.

To be disrupted at this level on a very regular basis and in this way (blank screen, flash back screen) is literally reducing productivity. The situation is unacceptable and for me to spend hours fixing it is also unacceptable .

MS what are you going to do and when.

    Hi Romcok,

I've not seen the problem now for almost 1 month after doing the following:

    - run sfc /scannow (as administrator) .

Like I mentioned above - I'm not sure which of the above solved the issue but I'm reasonably confident that its fixed now.
