Hi Everyone,

Has anyone been seeing intermittent Event 4101 "Display driver igfxn stopped responding and has successfully recovered" on surface laptop 3?

Tried all the surface diagnostics tools - all clean. Uninstalled device, reinstalled. - no joy.

Not had the laptop that long so not sure if updating to the latest surface firmware is the cause.

Not sure where to go from here. It happen maybe once every few days of constant use - very brief display blanking then recovers.

Is this a driver issue with the latest intel build? Or hardware issue? Nothing else wrong with the laptop.

    *** UPDATE ***

I did not have the issue for several weeks now since I joined the Windows Insider Programme (in Windows Updates menu). I'm so pleased - this issue has been annoying me for months (almost a year now) on my Surface Laptop 3.

I hope others can benefit from this approach with the same results.

    Good luck!

Thank you! I will join the Windows Insider Programme and report back
    !

    Hi,

This is not just an issue with the Surface laptops. I have a new DELL XPS laptop running on win 10 pro with intel i7 11th gen processor with 16gb ram. I was going through the exact same issue. The screen blacks out for a moment and comes back. Also noticed the display intense apps like Netflix or games will crash the app and closes abruptly. Found the logs in event viewer and finally landed on this thread. This is some kind of display driver issue on intel laptop. Microsoft need to work with Intel to get this corrected.

thank you Ajy401. I am seeing faults related to plugging and unplugging power supply too, are you seeing this too?

First PC laptop that I could not wait to give away to someone else AND the most expensive one I have ever bought *20 years*

    Disapointed

MS is clueless as this should be a recall

    Is anyone listening?

For the first time in 20 years looking at Apple laptops and writing this one off.
