Surface Laptop 3 - Event 4101 "Display driver igfxn stopped responding and has successfully recovered."

Hi Everyone,

Has anyone been seeing intermittent Event 4101 "Display driver igfxn stopped responding and has successfully recovered" on surface laptop 3? 

Tried all the surface diagnostics tools - all clean. Uninstalled device, reinstalled. - no joy. 

Not had the laptop that long so not sure if updating to the latest surface firmware is the cause. 

Not sure where to go from here. It happen maybe once every few days of constant use - very brief display blanking then recovers. 

Is this a driver issue with the latest intel build? Or hardware issue? Nothing else wrong with the laptop.

    I was an early entrant into this thread and just his morning on my SL3, I got the 2004 update and so far it seems to have fixed it.

    The disabling of hardware acceleration (Outlook Advanced Options) was a bandaid and while it prevented the hangs and crashes, it resulted in black boxes blocking out non-maximised office windows on a second screen so it was hugely frustrating for a €2000 machine.

    But I think it's fixed in 2004 - I've had that version for over an hour now and not one crash when I could easily replicate it but clicking Outlook taskbar icon and then moving the mouse point fast (every time - guaranteed to cause a crash and igfx stopped responding in eventvwr).

    I also saw this huge set of updates after reading your reply. As of after installing the updates I haven't seen a glitch either. Let's keep our fingers crossed and not cheer too early. I'll keep on following this thread.

    I'm not sure if this is the same firmware update others have received but this just popped up on my laptop.

    Maybe this will resolve the issue?

    I also have the exact same issue. I tried to update intel drivers through their website, I did all Windows updates, ... nothing seems to help. The 2 second freeze-thing I could live with, but when it happens during a Teams-call, the app freezes, next the camera freezes and eventually, Teams will crash and close down. Extremely annoying in these home-office days!!

    I can't imagine this is a batch issue either. I've installed the new Intel driver (May 2020) now, and can't get 100% stability and still getting the odd 4101 errors (Display driver igfxn stopped responding and has successfully recovered). I've gone back and turned off graphics acceleration in Office again. Be nice if Microsoft had some opinion on this, and when it might be addressed as it might be a driver/firmware combo that ultimately solves. This issue has been going on for months sadly.
