go to desktop mode, go to screen saver, if it says blank, 1 minute, change it to none. it fixed mine SP3, Same issue.

Love the idea behind the Surface Pro, but been having software and hardware issues lately. One of the software issues I've been experiencing is that when my Surface Pro first goes to sleep after a restart and I wake it up, it then begins going into sleep mode every like 1-2 minutes of being idle. I noticed this when reading some news on the internet.
I double checked my power options I have my current power plan (based off Balanced) set to put my Surface Pro to sleep (while plugged in) after 30 minutes of being idle!
Anyone know what's causing this problem? Is this another OS bug in Windows Ei8ht? I've avoided contacting the Surface support team cause every time I've contacted them about technical problems like this, their only solution is to perform a system refresh.

What, "fixed it," was running the clock up on the Screen Saver which was set to, "none."
Ran it up to 30 mins and the SP3 did not go to sleep.
Ran it back down to 1 minute and sure enough, at 1 min the SP3 kicked on it's screen saver despite being set to none.
Lame...

2016-07-05T21:45:27+00:00 While working, my computer screen turns black (goes to sleep)after about 2 or 3 minutes.A touch of the mouse or any key will open it again.In settings it is set to go to sleep mode after 30 minutes idle.Very annoying. How do I fix that???

2017-02-05T17:38:35+00:00 I did this, I changed it to none. I changed my sleep mode to never. Still goes to sleep for no reason. It goes to sleep AS I AM TYPING and not at all idle.
