Surface Pro keeps going to sleep every 1-2 minutes of being idle

Love the idea behind the Surface Pro, but been having software and hardware issues lately. One of the software issues I've been experiencing is that when my Surface Pro first goes to sleep after a restart and I wake it up, it then begins going into sleep mode every like 1-2 minutes of being idle. I noticed this when reading some news on the internet.

I double checked my power options I have my current power plan (based off Balanced) set to put my Surface Pro to sleep (while plugged in) after 30 minutes of being idle!

Anyone know what's causing this problem? Is this another OS bug in Windows Ei8ht? I've avoided contacting the Surface support team cause every time I've contacted them about technical problems like this, their only solution is to perform a system refresh.

I saw a similar post where the user said they set their power options but it didn't seem to 'take' until they'd unplugged and plugged back in a couple of times.  Almost like the prior plugged-in power state was still 'in use' and didn't update until it could switch over to the other one, and then back again.

Also make sure you don't have a screen saver set (blank screen might look more or less like the screen just going to sleep), that you've changed both the main sleep settings and the power off settings under 'advanced' for the screen itself, etc etc.

Seems to be an OS/firmware problem because I switched it to the "High performance" battery power plan (which I never modified) and it still went into sleep mode even though the power plan is set to NEVER go into sleep mode.

    Greetings MrElectrifyer,

Sorry to hear that your power settings are not working on your Surface. Have you done as suggested, and unplugged the charging cable after setting the Power settings?

It eventually began behaving itself after some random unknown event occurred (after I had switched it to the high performance battery plan).

Following that, I restarted the Surface Pro, changed the powerplan back to Balanced and put it to sleep. Once I woke it from sleep, everything seems to have gone back to square 1; Surface Pro keep ignoring my configured power plan and going into sleep mode every 1-2 minutes.

    -EDIT-

Disconnecting and reconnecting the power supply doesn't seem to have any effecting, it still went into sleep mode after ~2  minutes.
