Logitech K810 and new Surface Pro 3 firmware update not playing nicely Bluetooth Problem

Hi there,

There's an active discussion over on the Surface forums regarding the 9/9/2014 firmware update causing Bluetooth issues, primarily w/ the K810 (but I'd imagine this could be w/ other BT keyboards as well).

http://www.surfaceforums.net/threads/logitech-k810-keyboard-and-9-9-14-firmware-update.11391/

Prior to this firmware update I was able to use my Logitech K810 without issue with my Surface Pro 3. However, now it just goes into a connect/reconnect loop. I'll see "driver error" briefly. And then it'll try connecting again.

Looking into the event log for Administrative events, I see this:

Bluetooth HID device  either went out of range or became unresponsive.

I also see another event within seconds that says this:

Metadata staging failed, result={66F5F5A4-2104-53C0-BCDF-9DD1AF9AE33F} for container '0x80070490'

All of this appears to be an issue with the driver and/or firmware.

Furthermore, the keyboard works when pairing (typing in the keycode), but immediately after pairing it fails. So there is certainly something wrong and I don't believe it's the keyboard.

Anyone?

-Steve

Hi all, I just installed the 10/6/2014 System Hardware Update this morning and appear to be having no issues with my Logitech Keyboard anymore.  You may want to installed it.

You want to give a try.  So far, no issues encountered.  Hoping it stays that way.  ;-)

Hope this helps!

    Hi Steve,

I have the exact same issue.

    Here's what I learned:

    • Connected the K810 to Surface 3 Pro -> Same Problem with not connecing/disconnecting/driver error
    • Deinstalled Setpoint Software on Surface Pro 3 -> Connection established, Capslock results in weird disconnecting behaviour - only tested for 10 Minutes but anything else seems to be stable
    • Connected the K810 to my Windows 8.1 Desktop PC with ASUS Bluetooth and Setpoint installed (works just fine)
    • Disabled Capslock ability and changed the F#-Keys behaviour in Setpoint on that PC
    • Reconnected it to Surface 3 Pro -> Suddenly Capslock works as it should and the keyboard stays connected (so far. I only tested that for an hour or so)

Hope this might help. It seems that the new Surface Bluetooth driver and the Setpoint Software interfere with each other. I have not yet reinstalled Setpoint on the Surface 3 Pro. I suppose the problem will come back as soon as you do so I stick with it until either Microsoft fixes Bluetooth or Logitech fixes Setpoint.

    Cheers,

    c6ke

    Hi CharlieBird,

Please try the following steps to get the Marvell Driver back on your device:

If you can access another computer,

    1. Use a USB drive and download Surface Pro 3 - September 2014.zip on this page
    2. Extract this file on your Pro 3 Desktop>Use the default folder name
    3. Go to Desktop>Charms>Settings>Control Panel>Device Manger
    4. Tap Other Devices with a ? mark>Tap Ethernet Controller with an ! mark>Tap update driver
    5. Tap Browse my computer for driver software>Tap Browse
    6. Point to Desktop*Surface Pro 3 - September 2014**Marvell***wlan**and Tap next
    7. You should see Windows has successfully updated your driver software

Please reply back and let us know if the steps work for you.

    Kind Regards,

    Clare

    Hi Clare,

I think you misunderstood my question.  I was trying to see if I could roll back to the previous driver since the latest Bluetooth driver isn't working correctly with my Logitech K810 keyboard.
