Fingerprint reader stopped working with Surface Pro 3 after anniversary update

I am using a Surface Pro 4 typepad cover on a Surface Pro 3. Ever since the Windows 10 anniversary update, the fingerprint reader does not work when I turn on the Surface, unless I detach and reattach the typepad cover. The keyboard and mouse work fine - the only problem is with the fingerprint reader.

I tried checking drivers, but the Windows says they are up to date.

    I resolved the issue on my SP3 by rolling-back the surface fingerprint sensor to driver version 2.2.10.8 (2/3/2016). On my SP3, the latest driver (version 2.2.11.0) had this issue.

    So far, blocking power management from turning off the fingerprint reader has stopped the issue. The reader working correctly again for me. I will continue to report back. Oh, I often lock the Surface Pro3 with 'windows - l' key combo. I will test if that makes a difference.

    Been trying to solve this problem for over 3 months. Tried everything even rebuilding my surface, no joy. It is the driver that Microsoft have and they need to revert back. Microsoft why is it taking you so long? What worked before no longer works. What have you changed?.

    I am also having repeat issues with a SP3 using the SP4 KB with fingerprint reader which also started fairly recently. I am trying one fix listed in the link above: preventing power management from sleeping the fingerprint reader. I will come back and report after testing for a few days.

    Yeah i got the Fall Creators Update yesterday as well and forgot to check the driver version but it's been working for me too.

    With any luck, whatever the issues were with the more recent drivers has been fixed and the problem won't creep back.

    If it does there's places you can download the old driver.
