Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 Constantly Disconnects from WiFi (Other Devices are Fine)

Anyone else have this issue? It is so frustrating and I know the wifi is fine because my phone and my old macbook have never had issues with the Wifi but this happens to my Surface almost everyday. Thanks in advance.

    Yes indeed I had the same behavior from Microsoft Windows. As long as there was any version of the driver installed it used to say that the latest version of the driver was installed. Weird beahvior. The only way I succeed doing this was uninstall the wifi card and delete the drivers from my laptop and then download and install the latest version of the driver.

    But be very careful: you have to download the latest version of the driver and have it on a USB drive BEFORE you remove your old drivers. Indeed if you unsinstal the wifi drivers you won't be able to connect to the internet and download the latest drivers anymore.

    So:

    1- Download the latest drivers and put the .cab on a USB drive

    2- Uninstall the Qualcomm Atheros card from the Device Manager and check the "Delete drivers" option

    3- Install the latest drivers from your USB drive

    4- Wish for Microsoft to solve the issue soon because the latest drivers only hide the issue by restarting the card when it fails.

    Thank you - what driver version did that update change yours to? My driver version is 12.0.0.926, it's dated 12/02/2020. Tried to install that update you mentioned above, but it says I already have the latest driver.

    I bought a cheap usb wifi adapter and have been using that instead of the builtin wifi. This has completely eliminated the disconnects in zoom. Microsoft really needs to fix this issue. It is disappointing to buy a premium laptop with this issue to say the least.

    Ever since doing that - I have not had 5+ min periods where the wifi would no longer connect. Sadly it appears there's corruption in the driver itself and (hopefully) the fresh install resolves it long term.

    I have the Surface Laptop with 15 inch screen and AMD Ryzen processor and Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4A wifi chipset. Since day 1 the wifi used to drop every now and then. With the latest windows update, this worsened and wifi was dropping every minute, rendering the laptop useless. I needed to disable/enable the wifi card to be able to work again.

    I tried the proposed approach and what I actually did was download the *latest* version of the driver (currently Qualcomm Atheros Communications Inc. - Net - 12.0.0.954) from https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=QCA61x4A+windows+10

    You won't find any drivers on Qualcomm's website, you have to go through the Microsoft catalogue. Also beware, if you have some older version of the driver, for an unknown reason Windows Update will not update it to the latest one. So you really have to go and download the latest version from their Update catalogue.

    Now the wifi is dropping much less, maybe 2 or 3 times per day but with the new driver the card is being reinitialized automatically without me having to manually disable/enable the wifi card. So I loose connection for 10 seconds every now and then. This is still annoying when I am in online meetings. It is not normal to buy such a pricey machine and have to deal with such issues.

    So the issue is still open on my side and I really hope Microsoft is working on resolving this issue once and for all.
