Anyone else have this issue? It is so frustrating and I know the wifi is fine because my phone and my old macbook have never had issues with the Wifi but this happens to my Surface almost everyday. Thanks in advance.

    All,

I believe I "may" have finally solved this.  I downloaded Intel Drive and Support Assistant.  It showed three updates, Wifi, Bluetooth and Graphics.  Skip the Graphics it won't work due to OEM protection, however both the Wifi and Bluetooth installed without issue AND I have not had a problem since.

If you go here https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/detect.html the system will automatically detect your drivers.

    Good luck,

    Ron

This absolutely solved my problem since I installed the Wifi driver update yesterday. Thank you very much Ron!

Hello everyone, after changing the laptop twice, I was still having the same issue. I was able to resolve my problem by following this link. Since then, I am not experiencing the issue anymore.

    Good luck to you all!

PS: Jokes aside, I have spent the last 7 months going back and forth with Microsoft support, formatted and reinstalled the laptops I received a countless number of times, tried running under all supported versions of Windows, intstalled and uninstalled all current and past versions of the wifi driver. My conclusion is that there is no solution to this problem. The only solution is to buy another computer.

Hello everyone, I sent my Surface 3 laptop back to Microsoft and got a replacement. I'm having the same issue with the replacement machine. This is definitely a design issue in this model. I bought an external wifi USB dongle, and the USB dongle also drops connections, same as with the internal wifi.

I think the issue is with power management. I noticed that when I have an external hard drive connected to the USB, wifi gets unusable, disconnecting every 10 seconds.

Conclusion: we should have never bought those machines in the first place. We have moved to Surface machines at my company two years ago and we have a number of them. I think we will get rid of those and switch back to Dell laptops. Never had any issue with Dell. They're sturdy.
