Surface book 2 not charging
Hello, I noticed today my surface book 2 does not charge while plugging in the charger. I tried both while docking the keyboard in laptop mode and in tablet mode but both does not show any indication of charging. I also noticed the charger does not light up that white led to indicate charging.

2020-06-25T15:54:12+00:00 Just wanted to add a note to the above which worked well.
FYI 15" SB2 512GB 16GB RAM
Somehow, my power supply became unplugged and when I first plugged it back in, it did not appear to respond to the charge and the back of the unit was really warm. I removed the power connector until the back was cool, reconnected the power and left the unit for about 20ish minutes.
Following the additional guidance of holding the power button for about 20 seconds then worked for me to get the unit booted and useable and the unit showed that the battery was at 28% with 1 hour and 21 minutes until full charge (interestingly, looks to be about a minute of charge for 1% of battery)
So, in summary - hopefully this helps someone else if their unit drains completely and will not boot (even with power connected)
- When you plug the unit into the charger, if the back becomes very warm, remove the power connector and all other usb connections until the unit is cool to the touch.
- Once the unit is completely cool, reconnect the power connector and ensure the light is a solid white but do not plug any other usb devices in yet. In other threads, moderators have recommended to wait 5 minutes - I would suggest a bit longer to ensure a decent charge for booting and to ensure the unit is not still getting hot.
- If the unit stays cool and the power has been reconnected for an appropriate amount of time per my #2, press and hold the power button until the white MS logo appears and then release (about 20 seconds depending)
This is how it worked for me but your mileage may vary :)

2020-08-18T20:43:58+00:00 SB2 started doing this on me 6 months ago and I haven't been able to fix it. It will charge through the screen port by itself, but it won't charge through the dock port (either through the surface connector or USB-C)... it will show "plugged in, but not charging" in windows. I just tried swapping the battery in the base but that didn't change anything, and I can't find any replacement boards (the main one in the base, has the USB-C and surface connector with all the smaller boards, battery, kb/m cables plugged into it) to try and replace that.
Pretty much useless $1000 laptop!

2020-08-18T20:57:31+00:00 I know right? I didn't even bother asking for someone to fix it anymore. I just had mine for 1 yr and 1 month. It sucks that it broke 1 month after its warranty. But the most annoying part is that it is a $2000 laptop, thinking it will be a laptop you can use for 3 to 5 yrs but it did what you say.

2020-08-27T13:55:43+00:00 Apparently, since the Book 3 has come out, Microsoft doesn't sell the original Book 2 chargers anymore, so now we have to get it off of someone that is sponsored by Microsoft and is compatible with the model.
