Surface book 2 not charging

I'm starting to suspect the root cause of many of the issues with the dock (usb ports and ethernet not recognized, not charging) is the pin connector socket on the laptop. It's really not a great design to start with - you can wiggle it and it disconnects which is pretty scary - and I'm pretty sure if the pins aren't making good contact, things are going to fail. This also may be why Msft has been so unresponsive because recalling hundreds of thousands of Surfaces would be a disaster for them. I know they were trying to be clever with the magnetic connector but to me it's a weak link and should've been made much more resilient.

I have the same problem. The battery charger supplied with my Surface Book 2 less than 6 months ago only seems to work when the battery is below 10% and even then it sometimes has to be plugged into the mains several times.

If that didnt work, there is a problem with the battery. On mine initially i use to get hardware failure and detach issues. I realise the the keyboard battery was the only one working. After a while the battery was completely depleted, whilst the clipboard battery never get fully charged. 

my observation is that there is a hardware/software issue. Ive tried everything in the book. I recently sent mine to where i purchased it, i took an insurance policy when i got mine. Hopefully ill get a replacement

my cord is attached to my laptop and the light is on but it will not charge. I have a picture of the battery on my screen with 1 bar.

I have the same problem. I have my SB2 for quite some time now and is now out of warranty. What happened with my device battery ran out and the fan just went on like crazy for 3 hours. I was trying to charge my SB2 before this happened. Bought a new adapter to isolate as it turns out the problem was the adapter and the base. the clipboard is charging perfectly. If anyone knows any work around on this issue or had similar issue, I will appreciate it. Also, I have noticed that whenever I try charging the base the tip of the charger has some water when removed.
