Surface Pro 3 Slow WiFi - 72Mbps Max (driver)

I have an Apple Airport Extreme 802.11ac wireless router at home and am only connecting at a max of speed of 72Mbps (usually closer to 11Mbps if I'm more than 20 feet away from the WAP). I have two other 802.11ac laptops at home (Samsung AB9+ and rMBP) and my two other computers are connecting up at 800Mbps+ and pulling down the same on Internet speed tests; yes, I have real GigE connectivity. Is anyone else having these problems?

Hi all,

New firmware update out today - make sure to check for updates and install. Description below:

The following updates will be listed as “System Firmware Update – 10/28/2014” when you view your update history.
- Surface Pro UEFI update (v3.11.250.0) enhances the system stability, increases the reliability of the graphics display performance, and adds a status bar to the experience when applying future System Firmware Updates.
- Surface Pro Embedded Controller Firmware update (v38.7.50.0) increases the reliability of sleep state transitions with a Surface Pro 3 Docking Station connected.
- Surface Integration update (v2.0.1168.0) addresses setting the Hibernate value in Windows 10.
- Intel(R) 8 Series PCI Express Root Port #3 - 9C14 update (v2.0.1151.0) addresses cases when the Wi-Fi adapter is not available upon resuming the system from sleep.
- Wireless Network Controller and Bluetooth driver update (v15.68.3059.117) improves Wi-Fi throughput, especially after rebooting with Bluetooth devices that are paired, enhances power consumption situations, and addresses instances of system instability.
Unfortunately for me, the same wifi speed issues (6-19mbps connection on 2.4ghz network with or without a simultaneous bluetooth connection) still persist after installing this update. I've rebooted a few times and forgotten/reconnected to the network but no change.

Anyone else have any luck?

what brand and model router are you using?

what brand and model router? are you using different names for the 2.4 and 5 GHz

Barb, that is a terrible work around. You should NOT have to use different names. People use the SP3 for business. They cant go to their IT department or any number of their clients and ask for separate SSID's. It's ridiculous.

No other device in my office has this problem.
