Surface Pro 3 Slow WiFi - 72Mbps Max (driver)

We are looking for feedback from anyone still facing slow wifi, following successful installation of the September 9^th^ firmware update.

Ok. So now looks like Iam getting 144Mbs...Which is better than before but still not full 300Mbs that I get with all other devices. My model is i7, router is N. I think this is progress in the right direction (for N routers), but still not quite there yet. Please update your engineers to keep working on this issue, it has not been resolved all the way yet....

...and what about hibernation? sleep? switching APs? full reboot? cold start. I am not touching ANY update until its been out in the wild and tested thoroughly by the public.

Adam..... Nobody likes to be a test subjects, but if you want good thing you need to open your heart man... You can always roll the update back.I don't have issues with any of the items you mentioned, but I never had drop outs in the first place... Only slow WiFi... Wait till more people post, which I hope they will. Users tend to not say anything when issue has been resolved.

I have been a test subject since day 1 and rolled back to essentially day 1 drivers. I love my tablet I really do but I also need it working properly and as best I can, and right now after suffering three previous releases that made the system gradually worse there is a time to cut the cord and let someone else be a guinea pig - not that I think the public should be. For instance, you would think that someone would notice that enabling Hyper-V would disable Connected Standby.

Well Hyper-v is a completely different matter. I don't have it enabled. I have no need for it. I know how you feel man...I was very close to ship this bad boy back and get my 2k back, but I like surface soooo much....

Like I mentioned above, I don't see any negative effects of this update on my i7 Surface. Bare in mind that it is i7 and if you have different model your experience may vary. I also have a N router so I don't know if it works well with AC. I know it is better now with N and G wireless protocols.

BTW, Intel came out with new video drivers for graphics adapter. Supposedly increases performance by 20%. I am rocking it now. Haven't seen any difference so far.

Hello, I installed the update about 2 hours ago and the transfer rate is about 230 Mbps, not what it should be in comparison but it is decent enough for what I do.  I have my Linksys WRT 1900AC router which works well with any other gadget, no issues and I do have my 5GHz band with its own SSID and the 2.4 GHz has a different name.  I do keep the channel in auto in both since every device works fine in Auto.  All this I have posted in the past but just to recap.

As far as the updates today, it was kind of strange, up until this morning, Windows update kept saying NO UPDATES and then when I got the firmware update, I had to go through 3 set of windows update, first firmware and reboot, then ran windows update and found more updates, installed and reboot, then ran windows updates and found one more! installed that and reboot, then ran windows updates and finally no more updates.  I would suggest you run windows updates several times and reboot each time until no more updates are found.

Then for a very good test I shut down the SP3 and started from a cold boot just to give it a true test. 

My main issue before today was that the SP3 would lose the network connection/Wi-Fi after a few hours and some times it would require a reboot in order to have the wireless card find the router again.  It would connect fine, then after a while the upload speed would be slower and slower and eventually it would drop the connection from the AC router.  It normally takes about 3 days to give it a full test so I will post back what I find, but so far it has been stable for over an hour, we will see how it goes.

But definitely run windows updates several times until it says no more and do a shut down and restart to reset the hardware.

I just updated (I have an Airport Extreme AC, like the original poster) and I can confirm that I *do* seem to get 867mbps on the 5ghz band when I separate my router SSIDs into two: 1 for 2.4ghz and 1 for 5ghz.

However, until now I've been able to use all my devices with the Apple default of a combined SSID for both bands, and so far they've been intelligent enough to pick the ideal band (ie: always 5ghz when i'm close to the router)...so I really would prefer leaving my router with 1 ssid for both frequencies, and still use my surface at top speeds.

Does anyone know how to tell windows to prefer 5ghz when using a combined ssid router like the airport extreme? that would be awesome!
