Surface Pro 3 Slow WiFi - 72Mbps Max (driver)

I have an Apple Airport Extreme 802.11ac wireless router at home and am only connecting at a max of speed of 72Mbps (usually closer to 11Mbps if I'm more than 20 feet away from the WAP). I have two other 802.11ac laptops at home (Samsung AB9+ and rMBP) and my two other computers are connecting up at 800Mbps+ and pulling down the same on Internet speed tests; yes, I have real GigE connectivity. Is anyone else having these problems?

    No luck for me on the 5ghz ssid .  it is fast but drops the connection constantly. Have to reboot at least twice per day to fix "limited connection" issue when connected on the 5 GHz.

    I had a similar issue with a Linksys router I had a couple years ago (before the surface pro).  I found that setting the router to a specific channel (instead of automatic) fixed the issue.  It appeared that my router  signal was fighting my neighbors' routers.  I downloaded an app for my android phone that was a wifi analyzer and it showed what wifi channels were being used in my area.  I then went into my router settings and set the wifi channel to one that wasn't being used.  I no longer lost signal from the router.

    Yes , 5 GHz has its own name.

    And I do not think changing the router settings to try to make a single device, in this case be SP3, is right. Every other device connected to the router works 100% fine and never drops the connection.

    The SP3 drivers are faulty and Microsoft needs to solve the issue.

    I agree that MS needs to solve the issue....no argument with that.

    I didn't make a single 5ghz connection with my Apple Airport Extreme AC router.  It's a dual-band router.  It's now broadcasting two SSID's.  The 2.4ghz SSID is named "myrouter"; the 5ghz SSID is named "myrouter 5ghz".  Both are selectable now when searching for my home network signals.  My older wireless gear connects great to the 2.4ghz SSID, and my SP3 is connecting great with the 5ghz SSID. 

    Are there any other 5ghz signals being broadcasted by your neighbors?  Perhaps they're on a channel conflicting with yours?  Of course, I still agree with your statement that MS should solve the overall issue.  However, in the mean time, I'll make due connecting to my 5ghz SSID and leave my 2.4ghz SSID to my other wifi connected devices.

    It is good that worked out on your location. But the SP3 always has a problem with the 5 GHz routers I have used. I have several devices connecting to the 5 GHz band without issues. Just the sp3 had the problems.

    I read that there will be a second windows 8.1 update in August. Maybe they will sneak in some fixes there hopefully.
