Surface Pro 3 Slow WiFi - 72Mbps Max (driver)

I have an Apple Airport Extreme 802.11ac wireless router at home and am only connecting at a max of speed of 72Mbps (usually closer to 11Mbps if I'm more than 20 feet away from the WAP). I have two other 802.11ac laptops at home (Samsung AB9+ and rMBP) and my two other computers are connecting up at 800Mbps+ and pulling down the same on Internet speed tests; yes, I have real GigE connectivity. Is anyone else having these problems?

    Full 866.5mbps speed restored here!!!

    I have the SP3 512gb i7....just got it on August 4th. I did the usual windows updates and wireless connectivity was stuck at 72mbps.  I tried the uninstall/reinstall of drivers...no change.  I rolled back to earlier drivers, etc...  No change.

    What fixed mine?  I have an Apple Airport Extreme dual-band AC router.  I read feedbacks from others about ensuring the 5ghz connection name was seen as an option to log on to my network.  After clicking the box that said to broadcast the 5ghz connection name, and logging in to the 5ghz signal...I'm locked in at a steady 866.5mbps.  No hangs, no frozen, no hits...solid connection.

    Thanks goes out to those in the thread that brought out the discussion of the 5ghz connection.  I did re-try the 2.4ghz connection and it only goes to 72mbps.  So, I'll default my login to the 5ghz connection.

    Maybe the 5ghz login fix will work for those with Linksys/Netgear/etc...routers.  Worth a shot.

    No luck for me on the 5ghz ssid .  it is fast but drops the connection constantly. Have to reboot at least twice per day to fix "limited connection" issue when connected on the 5 GHz.

    I also have an Airport AC.  So, just to clarify what you're saying, you checked this box to assign a unique name to the 5GHz network:

    And then connected the SP3 specifically to that named network?

    I will have to give this a try when I get home and report back.

    Yep....exactly what you've shown in the image.  I clicked the checkbox...it said it made a 5ghz SSID....I hit the "Update" button....the router saved the settings....I disconnected from the 2.4ghz SSID and logged in to the 5ghz SSID.  Good to go.
