the problem, of course, is that some people have better results with the driver

released 7/16 and some with the previous driver. I'd be interested in what your

settings are in your WRT1900 and if you loaded the latest firmware.

I'm NOT saying that you should have to tweak router settings, I'm just looking

to see if there is anything in common with folks afflicted by this - things like

channel #, what mode (mixed, legacy, N+AC only, etc.) they are running in.

I think there is a general bug in Windows with respect to the list of SSIDs. On

other x86 devices, I often only see MY SSID the first time I look at the list

from Charms. It quickly refreshes after I sit on that screen. I'm wondering if

this is related...

Well, the router's settings are pretty much the defaults.  Its firmware is the latest version. The router has 2 SSIDs, the AC band and the N/G band.  The SP3 connects better to the AC band with the latest update, but it cannot stay connected, it eventually goes to "Limited" and I have to reboot or go to another SSID.  If I connect the SP3 to the N band, then it is more stable but before the latest update on 7/16 it used to be very stable on this band (at least for 1 week with the previous update), the latest update caused the disconnection issues, etc.

My AC band has WPA/WPA2/Mixed security, auto channel settings.  Same for the N band. Which are the defaults.

I just want to point out that no other device we have, has a problem with the WRT1900AC router in either AC or N/G bands.  With my previous DLINK G router the SP3 was also very good *finally* last week before the 7/16 update and the update from 7/16 also brought back the issue when I connect to the old router, the "Limited" or WiFi not working as I showed in my last post, etc.

I use one of the upper channels above 149 for the 5GHz band. For the 2.4GHz

band, I've been using channel 8 --

I don't used mixed mode - I don't have any legacy devices.

I use WPA2 only.

I have the same configuration as you with the only difference in the 5G channel where if I use any thing above 149 the 5G becomes very unstable. In general, the 5G in my Asus always has been very unreliable in all my different Surfaces versions. The 2.4G working more stable after I reinstalled the latest driver. But that did not help with 5G.

I don't have anyone around me using 5G band other than my wireless phones at home. So I think that that's part of the problem. I wonder the phones at what or close to what channel they are transmitting.
