Surface Pro 3 Slow WiFi - 72Mbps Max (driver)

I have an Apple Airport Extreme 802.11ac wireless router at home and am only connecting at a max of speed of 72Mbps (usually closer to 11Mbps if I'm more than 20 feet away from the WAP). I have two other 802.11ac laptops at home (Samsung AB9+ and rMBP) and my two other computers are connecting up at 800Mbps+ and pulling down the same on Internet speed tests; yes, I have real GigE connectivity. Is anyone else having these problems?

    Am a few feet from the router now and getting a solid 400 meg so I'm a happy camper.... just hope that it stays this way.

    Been fighting my SP3 I5 since I got it Sunday as well. Overall it's a nice little setup. The 802.11ac works but dog slow... almost better if I stay with N instead of ac. Pen connects about 1/2 the time. Getting tired of it. Should have waited for the I7 version I preordered. Maybe they'd have had more time and hopefully gotten this straightened out. Thought that by SP3 they would have it down pat....

    Will try deleting the driver to see how that goes. If not it's rebuild and back to Bestbuy.

    You want the driver dated 4/24 an with .67 on the end.

    I finally got the work around mentioned in this, and other threads, working.  Here are the steps I took:

    1 - Disable auto updates

    2 - uninstall battery driver

    3 - uninstall ac adapter driver

    4 - uninstall wireless driver - The difference I did this time was to uninstall the software associated with it. You'll get a dialog box with a checkbox.

    5 - reboot. Give the device a moment to reinstall the drivers and then reconnect to the network.

    Go into your updates and you'll see the 6/19 update that you DON'T want to install.

    WiFi is faster than before, but I'm still only around 54-72mb.

    Actually, that is not a bug.  That is designed deliberately.  When you go high speed with the WiFi adapter on battery power, your battery will last about 30 minutes with a heavy data transfer load.

    Laptops have done that for years and nobody ever noticed it.

    It is not a defect; it is supposed to do that.

    Yea, another issue is the Marvell adapter.  You may notice that you cannot find a stand a lone adapter made by them.  They are problematic and can have an issue in conjunction with the Bluetooth feature (for which the Marvell adapter provides as well).

    That could be the problem you are seeing and it may be 'throttling" down when it is not supposed to.

    But do note that when you are on battery power, the tablet will kick in the power management settings for it to extend battery life.  The WiFi adapter can eat juice like crazy the higher speed you go.
