Surface Pro 3 Slow WiFi - 72Mbps Max (driver)

I have an Apple Airport Extreme 802.11ac wireless router at home and am only connecting at a max of speed of 72Mbps (usually closer to 11Mbps if I'm more than 20 feet away from the WAP). I have two other 802.11ac laptops at home (Samsung AB9+ and rMBP) and my two other computers are connecting up at 800Mbps+ and pulling down the same on Internet speed tests; yes, I have real GigE connectivity. Is anyone else having these problems?

    No I am not using 5 GHz phones. All other devices work fine on the 5 GHz ssid, SP3 is the only one that fails.

    I have no other phones other than my cell phones.  I got rid of my landline a year ago.  Perhaps a neighbor's 5ghz wireless home phone may be a contributing factor with your wifi dropping.  Have you tried to connect your SP3 at a different location that uses 5ghz wifi (I.e. BestBuy, coffee shop, internet café)?  It would be interesting to see if you find the same issues on a totally different network.

    It is good that worked out on your location. But the SP3 always has a problem with the 5 GHz routers I have used. I have several devices connecting to the 5 GHz band without issues. Just the sp3 had the problems.

    I read that there will be a second windows 8.1 update in August. Maybe they will sneak in some fixes there hopefully.

    Are you using 5 GHz wireless phones? I had those and since I replace them my 5 GHz connection is more stable.
