Surface Pro 3 Slow WiFi - 72Mbps Max (driver)

I have an Apple Airport Extreme 802.11ac wireless router at home and am only connecting at a max of speed of 72Mbps (usually closer to 11Mbps if I'm more than 20 feet away from the WAP). I have two other 802.11ac laptops at home (Samsung AB9+ and rMBP) and my two other computers are connecting up at 800Mbps+ and pulling down the same on Internet speed tests; yes, I have real GigE connectivity. Is anyone else having these problems?

    Well unfortunately my news isn't as good, I just received the 8/12/14 firmware update and there was no improvement whatsoever, throughput using the internal chipset is still one-tenth of the external USB wifi adapter. I spoke with MS Tech Support again and they said that they would escalate my report of the fix being ineffective to engineering, but of course they could not state when any additional corrective action might be available. So I guess it is going back which is unfortunate because I like the device, but I just can't wait for some open-ended date in the future for a possible fix. Frankly after three updates with no success in fixing the problem I'm questioning whether it can be fixed.

    I will say that MS Tech Support was always friendly and really tried to help. They seemed to be well-trained and a significant cut above the usual 'read from a script' tech support you get these days, but this is a problem that no tech support agent is going to be able to solve.

    Good news here from Germany. With todays firmware update of august my wireless problem is gone.

    I had ALWAYS the problem that my speed was slow after connected standby.  I tested it again and a a few times now and i always had full speed.

    I purchased a SP3 yesterday and am experiencing similar wifi issues (maximum throughput of 3 mbps on the internal chipset, 35+ mbps on an external USB wifi dongle using same WAP.) Applying current updates, downgrading the driver, etc. had no positive effect. I contacted MS Support and was told that there supposedly is a new fix being released today (8/12/14) and that it would be pushed out via the update process. I asked if there was a way to manually download and apply the update and was told 'not yet', but that it should appear within a day. Hopefully the fix will be more effective than those fielded thus far.

    Do you have to reboot?  Could you just turn off wifi and back on again?
