I have an Apple Airport Extreme 802.11ac wireless router at home and am only connecting at a max of speed of 72Mbps (usually closer to 11Mbps if I'm more than 20 feet away from the WAP). I have two other 802.11ac laptops at home (Samsung AB9+ and rMBP) and my two other computers are connecting up at 800Mbps+ and pulling down the same on Internet speed tests; yes, I have real GigE connectivity. Is anyone else having these problems?

The latest update made it worse for me. can't believe this is microsoft's top of the line flagship. it's like buying a ferrari that tops out at 60mph. That's fast enough for most use, but I suppose most of us here are above average users.
Which version of Surface do you have (i7 or i5) and what type of router? Mine definitely improved. I am on i7, "N" router.

I agree. Mine has also become worse since the firmware update I installed earlier today. After a few restarts it does seem to be holding stable - it dropped out frequently to begin with - but I have to disable my USB GB Ethernet Adapter and Bluetooth PAN to get max speed of 144.0 Mbps on 2.4Ghz (I have a router capable of 5Ghz but I'll settle for getting this sorted first). Although sometimes it hovers around 1.0-5.5 Mbps even with these disabled!
I appreciate the need to save power but not at the expense of it functioning at all. What's frustrating is not having any control over how the adapter performs. I would hazard a guess that it all derives from Connected Standby and it's half-baked implementation on the Haswell CPU's /64 Bit OS. I only hope Microsoft can fix it without using us all as guinea pigs.

Are you connecting to the 5Ghz SSID? Do you have different names for 2.4/5 Ghz SSID's? What are your speeds using speedtest.net using 5 GHz and what is your ISP speed tier?
