I bought Surface Pro 2 recently. It is a brand new computer. All I have done is to use it doing homework, watching videos. 

But it happened several time recently, I am doing nothing, just letting it on.  it suddenly crashed and let me search for  "driver_irql_not_less_or_equal (mwlu97w8x64.sys)". what does this mean?

Thank you for the reply. I understand you are having the same issue on your replacement device and I know this is a frustrating situation for you. I'm here to guide you in the right direction. 

Please try the following:

  1. Back up your files.
  2. Do a reset.
  3. Go to Charms>Settings>PC settings>One Drive>Sync Settings>Turn off Sync your settings on this PC. This step will isolate the settings from other computers that might affect your Pro 2.
  4. Install all updates.
  5. Install your apps back one by one to see if the problem comes back with certain apps.
  6. If the problem continues, please contact our Support.

    I am regularly getting the mwlu97w8x64.sys crash problem. I have the latest firmware, and when the surface pro 2 crashes I don't seem to be doing anything unusual (in fact the Surface is usually doing nothing).

    Is there any fix for this?

    I'm also getting this issue, anywhere from one to five times per day.  I'm running an original Surface Pro with all of the most recent updates.  I'll give this most recent bit about uninstalling the wifi driver a shot, but this is a pretty disappointing issue.  I thought Windows was past the days of crashing all the time.

    Greetings all,

    I'd suggest installing the latest Windows Updates and seeing if the issue continues. If it does, try uninstalling the Marvell AVASTAR wifi driver without deleting it from Device Manager then restarting your Surface.

    on the 8th I had 4 bsod's, then I installed all the latest updates through the windows action center and updated the marvell wlan drivers designated mwlu97w864.sys. yesterday I had 3 bsod's. I don't think the updates have addressed the issue yet.
