No one has yet proven that installing apps per user takes more disk space. Don't let a hypothesis be a killjoy.
I daresay let your wife install her own free apps. You can use the Share charm in Store to email her a link to apps you like, or think there's be some shared benefit from.
How do I use that Share Charm to do that?
I agree that it's a nightmare having to download and install every (free) app separately on all the kids' accounts, and I was assuming that there was a way to share them or make them public and that I just hadn't found it, so I'm disappointed by the answers
on this thread. I also put a file download block on the kids' accounts in Family Safety as I don't want them just downloading stuff willy-nilly, so I don't even know yet if I will be able to download free games from the Store on to their own accounts anyway.
I just wanted them to have their own profiles that they can customise with their own colours and games they like, without being able to access anything unsuitable or mess with any settings on my profile.
I just went to the Store, selected an app that I've already downloaded on to my profile, and clicked on the Share Charm, and got the message "You don't have any apps that can share this content".
I then tried opening the same app from the Start page, and then clicking the Share Charm and got "There's nothing to share at the moment. You need to select a news or opinion article to share".
If there's no way of directly sharing the app, I did think that at least sharing links would speed up the process so I don't have to manually search for each individual app each time I want to add it to a new profile.
I'm not intending to use any paid apps at the moment, so I wasn't worried about the cost of downloading them again, it's just the time it takes re-doing everything for 5 different accounts, especially with the downloads being so slow!
