Surface Pro 7 Freezing and Restarting

I just purchased the Microsoft Surface Pro 7 and have only been using it for one day. In that time it has frozen and completely restarted itself 4 times. It is brand new and I probably only have an hour or two or screen time. There is no specific thing that causes it, the screen just randomly freezes until the surface restarts on it's own. Any solutions or help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Marrionn,

My Surface Pro 7 keeps freezing abut 4 to 5 times per day. I have run the following:

    1. Windows Update
    2. Surface Diagnostic Toolkit

But none of these have helped. Can you please help me solve this issue.

    Thanks,

    Puneet

    Hello,

I have tried this fix. But it does not work for me. My Surface Pro 7 still keeps freezing randomly. Any other recommendations.

    Thanks,

    Puneet

I think the freezing is due to the power saving profile being far too aggressive. I was able to solve it on my 7 Pro by turning off the Intel panel refresh as mentioned above and the following:

When running off the battery, click on the battery icon (bottom right of the screen) and make sure it's not set to Best battery life.

When plugged in, do the same but set it to Best performance.

Also increase the screen off/sleep time to 20 minutes or such like.

I had Intel Graphics Command center installed and went through the setting.  It works so far without freeze up.  I was about to return my Surface Pro 7.

    Million thanks!  Awesome!!
