Surface Pro 7 Freezing and Restarting

I just purchased the Microsoft Surface Pro 7 and have only been using it for one day. In that time it has frozen and completely restarted itself 4 times. It is brand new and I probably only have an hour or two or screen time. There is no specific thing that causes it, the screen just randomly freezes until the surface restarts on it's own. Any solutions or help would be greatly appreciated.

All, After 3 weeks I post the issue, I returned the product and got a replacement, after few month of use, it has been working fine. No major issues so far.

My word of advice is as soon as you identify the issue, do not try to attempt download patches here and there, and thinking you will have the issue under control, just get a swap over if you can or at least ask manufactory to look at it under warranty.

I see you made this post in 2019 and this is December 2020 and mine is 37 days old and I’ve used it about four times and it’s doing the exact same thing except for the power button at the top if you touch it it resets

    Sandy: Get a replacement

From experience (owning 2 devices and having gone through ~4 replacements) there are multiple causes for this issue.

The intel display sleep is the easiest to fix, if your computer freezes and the keys: Win+Ctrl+Shift+B , resets the display and it works again, your problem is the intel display problem

but there are multiple other causes for freezing that is not fixed by the win/ctrl/shift/b these are not fixable and need a replacement device. they are potentially related to heat. These can be freezes or Blue screen (BSOD). If this is you then get a replacement asap.

I dealt with this issue for months after purchasing a 7 Pro for work. Finally, i changed my Surface Dock 1 for a new Surface Dock 2 and the freezing and ghost key presses have stopped.

My Surface Pro 7 I5 128GB is only one week old but it had three problems: the WLAN conenction got lost and it told me no IP connectivity, but it seems that an driver update has solved this, then it looses the Connection to the SD Card I use as memory expansion and the last days it also started to freeze, independent from programmes running, it happened with several apps open. I downloaded und updated Surface Pro7 Win10 drivers (had to do it twice as also doing so the Computer froze), but nothing changed. What should I do? Bring it back to the shop and ask for a new one?

I would go and ask for a replacement. My replacement has been working fine ever since.
