Surface Pro 7 Freezing and Restarting

I just purchased the Microsoft Surface Pro 7 and have only been using it for one day. In that time it has frozen and completely restarted itself 4 times. It is brand new and I probably only have an hour or two or screen time. There is no specific thing that causes it, the screen just randomly freezes until the surface restarts on it's own. Any solutions or help would be greatly appreciated.

Microsoft themselves, just could not read these reports, or they just couldn't care less,

I am gradually changing my users to Apple, the difference in attitude and service is tremendous, rang me to help at a time to suit me.

I too am experiencing this issue with a 3 wee-old Surface Pro 7 that is plugged into a Version 1 Surface Dock.  The issue happens to me when I am in Outlook and send an email.  I have updated all from the Outlook 365 Biz install to all drivers to the Surface Dock firmware.

Hi Paul, thank you for this. I got a replacement and it has been working fine so far. Touch wood it will stays that way, but i will keep your advice in mind just in case.

From what I have seen so far, there must be more than one cause for the problem. Mine was cured using the Intel app, i just hope it stays that way, but obviously sme have a hardware fault, if mine starts again, i will go down that aveneue. Microsoft might have to do a recall on some?

There are indeed multiple causes to this problem

UI have two devices, and one device has had multiple replacement.

One device freezes and the vid card reset trick works ( Ctrl+Shift+Win+B ),

But the other device requires a hard reset (hold power for 10 secs), the multiple other devices I received as refurb replacements all had the same or worse problems as this second device.

It may be a problem with some devices being very sensitive to overheating, as it seems to happen more often when in a case (microsfot supplied dtm case), and if I run a benchmark stress test I can usually get it to crash

Microsoft have not acknowledged the problem and have been giving me the run around sending me faulty devices for over 6 months.

I've been experiencing the same issue since taking my SP7 out of the box. I just tried your suggestion and will report back if it has fixed the issue.

Has anyone else noticed the freezing problem a lot more often while using the Pen? This seems to be the only time mine freezes.

    Thank you for the advice!
