My Surface Pro 7 was updated last night with 2 Firmware updates, supposedly "Addresses unexpected shutdown failure, and improves system stability". Let's see, hopefully the freezes and restarts are a thing of the past.

I just purchased the Microsoft Surface Pro 7 and have only been using it for one day. In that time it has frozen and completely restarted itself 4 times. It is brand new and I probably only have an hour or two or screen time. There is no specific thing that causes it, the screen just randomly freezes until the surface restarts on it's own. Any solutions or help would be greatly appreciated.

The Surface Pro 7 is an attractive product but isn't reliable at all, I have not had a problem with any machine in history of using computers especially a brand new machine like i have with the Surface Pro 7. Microsoft need to go back to the drawing board and start again with this product.
exactly specially when it comes to the basic manufacturing methods ,Its really surprising that these kind of issues with Microsoft .hopefully they can solve this issue with their high end product.

2020-06-01T15:49:47+00:00 @aeturnus A big THANKS to you for reporting this Panel Self Refresh fix. For me, it's been 3 weeks without a cursor freeze or stall.
On the first day after turning off Panel Self Refresh, I got a freeze, but I had only turned it off for "On Battery". When I went back in and also turned it off for "Plugged In", that stopped the freezes cold.
