I just purchased the Microsoft Surface Pro 7 and have only been using it for one day. In that time it has frozen and completely restarted itself 4 times. It is brand new and I probably only have an hour or two or screen time. There is no specific thing that causes it, the screen just randomly freezes until the surface restarts on it's own. Any solutions or help would be greatly appreciated.

I've been experiencing the same issue since taking my SP7 out of the box. I just tried your suggestion and will report back if it has fixed the issue.
Has anyone else noticed the freezing problem a lot more often while using the Pen? This seems to be the only time mine freezes.

I can't blame you. I've been (and still am) a big fan of the Surface devices (Surface 3, Surface Pro 5 and now the Surface Pro 7), but these issues with the SP7 are embarrassing. If I had to advise a learning organisation, I couldn't advise this device either.
Started a 20GB copy this morning, copying image files from SD card to file server, and had to discover after returning an hour later, that the Surface had restarted itself and I had to restart the copy event again. This is unacceptable for a premium device the Surface Pro is.
After having had the same trouble read all the fixes and tried them, I have purchased an iPad pro, very much better for the job.
I would have liked to purchase Microsoft devices for the students to use for home learning, but I don't want the hassle, 1,227 iPads it is then.

I have tried by switching off the panel self refresh on both battery and plugged in with no success. The Surface Pro 7 is an attractive product but isn't reliable at all, I have not had a problem with any machine in history of using computers especially a brand new machine like i have with the Surface Pro 7. Microsoft need to go back to the drawing board and start again with this product.
This issue seems to be tied to the display powersaving tech that Intel has called Panel Self Refresh, which may cause the display panel to not update in certain situations (though it's not good at figuring out what those situations are) to reduce power.
I've fixed it on my SP7 i5/8G/256G by installing the Intel Graphics Command Center from the Microsoft Store, opening it, going to System>Power>Panel Self Refresh and turning it off for both "On Battery" and "Plugged In".
This is the " real solution " of fixed the issue. I had SP7 i5/8g/128G on 3/14 and right after updated certain SW and issue starting randomly almost everyday whan I use the SP7. Tried many solutions from different forum without fix the issue until this one. bottom line, the issue was fixed completely and pray to god it will not come back when update SW next time.
