Surface Pro 3 short battery life

I was wondering if I have a defective unit. I have an i5 surface pro 3 and I only get about 4 hours of battery life playing YouTube videos at about 40 % brightness and about 5 hours of web browsing.  The computer shuts off when I am just below 10 % battery left. What are you guys getting?

    I have battery life problems too. From full charge to is 2 to 3 hours.

    • Have all updates been installed on your Surface? You can get more information here.
    • Can you tell us which programs are running on your Surface whenever you run it on battery?
    • When did you start to notice this? Has there been any changes or updates done on your Surface prior to this issue happening?

    Updates current.

    Programs running-- general office work, browser, no multi-tasking, no video

    It has been gradually getting worse for last six months or so. Never got more than 5+ hours.

    Hi Charline,

    I am having battery issues as well.  I have done all the updates and can only use my Surface Pro 3 as a laptop.  I have the SIMPLO battery in my unit; can you please let me know what Microsoft is doing to fix the units that were made with the bad batteries?

    I wanted to ask Microsoft, but they wanted $99 since I am 5 months out of warranty.

    Same here. Battery drains in less than an hour after a full charge. Had to grab my charger in order to get the latest updates installed before it died.  Very disappointed with this product, since I purchased it to be portable.
